The
School Health Program:
Week 1: Class:Personal introductions, team building excercises, introduction to the course.Talk
about end of the year project and assign groups.
Homework: Read chapter 1(pgs. 8-18) and do end of the chapter questions.
Week
2: Class: Presentation of Making Healthy Choices
Homework: 1 Page typed on "how you can take responsibility in
your own life"
Week 3: Class: Personality and self esteem presentation and discussion.
Week 4: Class:
Guest speaker for "Mental Disorders and Suicide" presentation. After presentations students will get into their project
groups and discuss what they have learned Homework: Further research into your individual topic on mental disorders. List
three helpful websites you've found so far.
Week 5: "Building healthy relationships" lecture. Class: Class will
get to work in their presentation groups for last 15 minutes of class. Homework: 1 page each of research on your topic.
Week
6: "Pregnancy and Birth" Classroom: Safe sex Speaker
Homework: Complete questions on handout on "Pregnancy and Birth." Bring
in picures and things to use for your posterboard.
Week 7: Children will use class time to develop a poster board for
their group projects. Homeowork: Complete second paper for Presentation.
Week 8: Movement and Coordination Classroom:
Lecture on Movement. Watch Videos on the skeletal,muscular and nervous system.Practice taking notes. Homework: Handouts
on videos
Week 9: Drug use Classroom: The class will attend an assembly on Drug use. They will write a small summary
afterwards.
Homework: Find three websites that were helpful to you in finding more information on drug use. Tell why
they were helpful.
Finish final page for presentations.
Week 10: Classroom: Students will work in their groups
to make notecards and power points for the project. Students will learn how to cite sources from information obtained off
of the internet.
Week 11: Class presentations.
